Electric motorcycles are here!

Two Lenah Valley residents now each own a Vectrix motorcycle. The Vectrix VX-1 is a 100% plug-in electric bike that produces zero emissions. Its top speed is 100 kph (0–60 kph in about 4 seconds) with a range of about 60 km between charges. Running cost is roughly 1 cent per kilometre. Hobart City Council is installing charging points in the Central and Salamanca carparks, and the owners are in discussion with the people at Motor Registry about cheap registration incentives.

The owners are keen to raise awareness about the potential for electric vehicles in Tassie, so if you think likewise (or if you’d like to check out the bikes) drop Bruce a line at bruce.ransley@impress-cc.com.au or 6278 8115.
